Drecht Cities Young Professionals – DCYP – is the program for young professionals in the Drecht Cities region, initiated by the Economic Development Board and regional companies. Its goal is to attract and retain young talent for the region and its businesses.

Challenges and Events
A challenge is a business-related issue that a group of young professionals works on. They are guided by an experienced business owner and an expert project coach.
With a fresh perspective and creative energy, young talents tackle challenges and come up with innovative solutions. They do this using a structured method that supports them in the process from idea to impact.
#1 Scylla – sustainable river cruising
Sustainability is a focus for Scylla, and in this challenge, the task was to explore how they can make their fleet as sustainable as possible. This includes reducing energy consumption, minimizing food waste, as well as the design and propulsion of the ship. The challengers came up with a concrete solution for antifouling, which Scylla will implement in practice.
#2 Get started with AR, AI and LLM
The topic of the challenge was implementing new technologies such as Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, and Large Language Models in the workplace. The challengers were tasked with developing their own business case to optimize workflows using these new technologies. This resulted in impressive outcomes that the challengers implemented at the companies where they work.
#3 Stretching the Future
The current stretch-forming facility at GKN Fokker in Papendrecht is reaching its limit. An ambitious team of eleven young professionals designed a new facility in Virtual Reality.
#4 Clean Rib
Young professionals from Veth Propulsion, Iv-Group, Oceanco, Koedood, and TU Delft participated in TeamNL Sailing's Clean Rib challenge. The result? A sustainable design for a hydrogen-powered coach boat for international competitive sailing (and other markets).
CEO Dinner and Gathering
One of the highlights of the year: the CEO Dinner and the Young Professional Gathering! During the dinner, we bring CEOs and Young Professionals together to engage in inspiring conversations about themes shaping the future of work. After the dinner, the party begins! The evening concludes with the DCYP Gathering, where young professionals come together for a festive event.
DCYP Awards
During the Young Professional Gathering, the DCYP Awards are presented in the categories: CEO of the Year, Challenger of the Year, and Young Professional of the Year. The awards spotlight leadership, innovative thinking, and regional impact.
Drecht Cities Experience
The Drecht Cities Experience offers young professionals a unique opportunity to discover their region. During this event, participants visit various companies that are members of our network. Each location provides an exclusive behind-the-scenes look, ranging from engaging tours to inspiring talks by experts.
